Q & A
If the following common questions don't provide you with all of the answers you're looking for, please send an inquiry to our staff.

Q: How long have you been in the business of software development?
A: We've been in the business of programming for 14 years starting back in the early 1990's with DOS programs written in C, dBASE III, Clipper, FoxPro, QuickBASIC and Visual Basic 1.0 (yes that long ago). Through natural progression we began designing and implementing applicaitons in Microsoft Windows using Visual Basic, Microsoft Access, Microsoft SQL Server, and Microft Office (primarily Word and Excel). Around 1997 we began developing web sites using standard HTML and then progressing to dynamic database driven e-commerce and enterprise level web applications.

Q: What do you mean dynamic database driven e-commerce and enterprise level web applications?
A: A standard definition of a web site is a collection of electronic pages, generally formatted in HTML (Hypertext Markup Language), that can contain text, graphic images, and multimedia content (such as sound files, video and/or animation files). Web sites by nature are static beings, meaning that they don't change unless someone makes a change to one or more of the electronic pages associated with the site. The inverse of a web site is a web application which is usually programmed using technology that allows the developer to create pages that read data from, and write data to, a database.

A database is a storage mechanism which holds information (text and images) and helps drive the site content. By connecting a database to the web site, developers can make sites easily maintainable, dynamic and instantaneously fresh with new data based upon details entered by designated administrators, hence creating a dynamic web siite or web application.

The e-commerce part is all about selling on the World Wide Web using a web application and standard technologies for encryption (data protection) and credit card processing.

The term enterprise level web application is synonymous with a web application that is used by a company to drive some part of its internal (and sometimes external) business function. These types of applications are used to bring operating efficiency to the the business to help drive down costs, request turn-around time and increase revenue.

Q: What is my role (the client) in the process?
A: We strive to work with our clients through a flexible process that let's you determine what level of involvement you want. Some clients may want heavy involvement in particular aspects of development, while others want to let us handle everything. Your involvement will be defined at the beginning of the requirements gathering phase of a project and will be based on your needs and preferences.

Q: Do you create anything other than web sites?
A: Yes, we do. Our expertise also covers the following:
  • Database analysis and design using MicrosoftSQL Server and Microsoft Access
  • Web graphics
  • Search engine optimization
  • Project management
  • Training

Q: Do you have samples of your work?
A: Unfortunately, our work tends to have a confidentiality agreement tied to it and our customer usually owns the rights to the application. In addition, most of our applicaitons have been web applications built for internal use by our corporate customers. Therefore we are hard-pressed when it comes to creating an online portfolio of work accomplished. Trust us, we do good work. For an samples of works in progress:

Q: What kind of applications have you written?
A: Applications we've written range in function from the simple to the complex:
  • Standardized data entry applications, databases and reporting engines for small teams and business units
  • Check cashing/Point-of-Sale
  • Customer relationship management
  • Resource management - used to forecast and track actual employee utilization across projects and corporate organizations.
  • Project portfolio management - used to maintain a database of potential business opportunities and their pertinent details

Q: How much do you charge?
A: Our pricing varies depending upon the complexity and the duration of the project. Quoting "on-the-fly" is not a habit that we have taken on, it will only hurt our clients and our business. Our costs are based upon your requirements, and the level of effort it's going to take on our part to provide you an unmatched level service and benefit.

Q: What is your payment structure?
A: Projects costing $15,000 or less will require 50% to start and 50% upon project completion. Larger projects will be require 30% down with payments made at agreed upon project milestones and a final payment at the completion of the project.

Q: Are there any hidden fees?
A: No hidden fees ever! We make every attempt to provide our clients with the most transparent cost breakdown at the beginning of the project. We layout all costs and fees before anything is signed off.
